ECO Properties
The production of these handbags is characterized by exceptional craftsmanship.
Malababa selects certified Python snake skins from Indonesia, a byproduct of the local food industry, ensuring efficient use of animal materials.
Upon arrival in Spain, the snake skins undergo a comprehensive, meticulous tanning, conditioning, and dyeing process in a family-run business, led by third-generation experts in exotic leather tanning. Remarkably, only two companies in Spain now specialize in exotic leather tanning. This one particularly, carries on the legacy of the pioneers who introduced this technique to Spain.
The leather preparation process is extensive, highly precise, and mostly artisanal. It involves ancient techniques like hand-preparing and gluing the scales, followed by dyeing using biodegradable water-based dyes. The hand-finishing process accentuates specific areas with delicate brush-strokes. To economize energy, they employ methods such as air-drying and vintage machines.
After the tanning process, the handbags are crafted in a small leather artisans workshop in Madrid. Before sewing, they manually shape the bag's structure, almost like sculpting a piece of art.
